Education
In REC «Ion-plasma technologies» the laboratory works and lectures are carried out by both Russian and foreign scientists. Laboratory works are carried out on the newest equipment of the leading world manufacturers. Students learn how to work with vacuum and technological equipment, study the methods of samples surface preparation and studying the properties of coatings and materials on the modern analytical equipment (nanoscratchtester, nano hardness testing equipment, confocal laser microscope, ellipsometer, spectrometer, etc.).
Complex plasma
We will cover a broad range of education activity focused on the physics of complex plasmas. This will include the following principal directions:
- Teaching: Four lecture courses and complementing seminars.
- Lab exercises: Experiment design and demonstration for students (GEC and PKE setup).
- Software: Data analysis and for experiments on ISS.
- PR: Public lectures, participation in experiments on the ISS.
Teaching cycle, which is scheduled to start in February 2013 (winter semester) will be two years long (4 semesters). Over this period, the following lecture courses will be taught:
- Basic complex plasma physics (1 semester).
- Interdisciplinary plasma research (2 semesters).
- Experimental complex plasmas/experimental methods (3 semesters).
- Special plasma course (1 semester).
We invite all BMSTU students interested in starting their work in the field of complex plasmas to attend the lectures.
Lecture courses I-III will be complemented by seminars (over 2 semesters) and lab exercises (over 3 semesters). Detailed information on lecture courses, including the lecture notes and schedule, will be provided in the beginning of 2013.
Please contact Dr. A. Ivlev (ivlev@mpe.mpg.de) for details and enrollment.
Technology of plasma coatings and plasma sources
In laboratory “Technology of plasma coatings and plasma sources” students study forward plasma’s technology, assist in create new sources of plasma and nanotechnology processing the surface of a solid body. Scope of work: from project of equipment and working drawing to commissioning in most major factory of our country.
Education is carried out on the equipment that is equipped with the latest technology and modern control systems allow a rapid analysis of solid surfaces.
Equally with serious technical training students receive extensive training at plasma physics, solid-state physics and dynamics of gases. The calculations are technological devices, plasma parameters, calculation flow, thermal, and electromagnetic fields.
All of this together guarantee the high quality of training of specialists in the field of plasma technology.
The new materials
Fundamental studies of the new nanosructured materials are carried out in the laboratory “New materials”.
The students take part in the synthesis and control the properties and structures of solids. Our new modern analytical equipment makes us possible to check the structure and the properties of new nanostructured materials in-situ.
The world corporations are interested in the results of investigations since nanomaterials applications will make possible to significantly decrease the output cost and makes the production more ecologically. It is very important taking into account the current ecological problems.
