The Laboratory “Plasma sources and coatings” deal with the improvement as well as design of new plasma sources and plasma coatings. The fields of work:
- Hall thrusters. New ion sources with new characteristics mainly studied, designed and tested. We have made a conic ion beam instead of traditional ring-like beam, which gathers on a certain distance from the ion source. The ion profile in focus is Gauss like. The glass placed in focus of the ion beam breaks in a minute!
- Magnetron sputtering systems. Our devices are based on compact electro or/and permanent magnets. The construction of the magnet systems is able to induce magnet fields of large value so we can sputter ferromagnetic materials.
- Vacuum arc evaporizers (plasma gun). Vacuum arc plasma sources are designed, studied and improved. The new plasma sources with reduced droplet phase and increased time of work were designed in our laboratory.
